Hymn of Preparation  Jesus, I Come

GOD CALLS HIS PEOPLE TO WORSHIP
It is God Himself who calls His people to worship.
We come praising him, confessing our sins and the one true faith.

*Call to Worship  Psalm 84

Leader:  How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts!

Congregation: My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Leader: Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise!

All: Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion. Blessed are those who trust in you!

*Prayer of Adoration and Lord's Prayer

*Hymn of Praise

Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon

Leader:  Great God of grace, you have laid the account of our sin upon Jesus, and accounted us his righteousness. You have clothed us in his righteousness and adorned us in his holiness.

Congregation: But we adorn our Christian lives with rags. Our prayers, our confessions, our attitudes, words and actions are riddled with selfish desires. We have exalted and pleased ourselves.

Leader: And our best works are as filthy rags. We need to repent of our own religious life. We have made this life about ourselves. You have given us breath, provisions, redemption and all things in Christ Jesus; but we have lived for ourselves.

Congregation: We are always asking you for all that we need to run into a far country to do as we please, and we always return here like the prodigal asking, Father forgive us. Have mercy on us. And you are always bringing to us the best robe of Christ’s righteousness.

All: We have sinned, but you are loving and forgiving. For the sake of Christ forgive us our sins and show us mercy. We trust in you to never let us lose sight of the sinfulness of our sin, the righteousness of your salvation, the glory of Christ, the beauty of your holiness, and the exceeding wonder of your grace to us.

Silent Prayer

Leader: If you are trusting in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins, hear his words of pardoning grace: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9

GOD SPEAKS TO HIS PEOPLE THROUGH HIS WORD
The Scriptures and the Sacraments are the means God uses to communicate to us the benefits of redemption. He makes them effectual to his own for their salvation. We participate by faith.
